Religious Observance
Learning and Teaching Scotland are creating a website of resources to support religious observance following the implementation of Circular 1/2005.
Resources available include:
Ideas for Quiet assemblies
Sample policies and templates
Cross curricular Themes
Authority Support Materials
A Religious Obervance Self-evaluation toolkit for schools is available in hard copy from Elaine.
Authority support materials have recently been issued to Primaries to enable schools to take forward Religious Observance. A working party developed a number of Religious Observance templates across the stages which have been issued to Head Teachers at the January Business Meetings. These were provided in hard copy and on cd.
My thanks to:
Christine Darroch, Head Teacher of Keills Primary
Pam Atack, Head Teacher of Rosneath Primary
Sally Stankey, Acting Head of Lochgilphead Primary
Secondary materials are under development.
Further information can be obtained from Elaine.

Farmington fellowship for Teachers
Teachers with a school-based Fellowship will work mostly at school or at home. The Fellowship can be for a continuous period for as much as half a term or for as little as two weeks. Alternatively, the Fellowship may be taken in the form of day release, for instance for one day a week for a term or even a year.
Fellows are free to study any aspect of Religious education they wish but preference will be given to applicants whose work can be seen to be of direct value to the teaching of RE in schools.
The Fellowship will cover the cost of tuition, board and lodgings where appropriate, essential travel and, by negotiation with the school, the salary of a replacement teacher up to a certain amount.
All fellows are expected to produce an outline study plan of their project. Towards the end of the Fellowship, the Fellow will give a presentation of his/her work. All Fellows are expected to produce a written report on the work they have undertaken.
Further information is available from Farmington Website. Hermitage Primary have been involved in the use of this Fellowship.
